There is nothing more discouraging than going to friends' houses or seeing on TV these extravagant bathrooms that are filled with elegant accessories and features. Just because you have a small bathroom does not mean you cannot add some class and style to it. Here are six tips to help you properly design your small room.
1. Solid colors
The first step to altering your room is to stick with solid colors. By scattering busy patterns throughout the room it makes an already small bathroom appear to shrink. Light and natural tones will open up the room and make it far more pleasant.
2. Corner storage
You will be amazed at what you can do with the smallest areas in your room such as the corner. Installing a small shelf or storage unit in the corner allows you to create a unique design while providing you with another spot to place various accessories. This will free up the counter thus eliminating the clutter.
3. Smaller faucet
As you might expect, the smaller you go in the room the larger the space will appear. By downgrading your faucet to a single-control model, you can save a great deal of space. Keep in mind that every little detail matters when designing a small bathroom.
4. Smaller vanity
In addition to downsizing the faucet, you can create a great deal of space by reducing your vanity size. Having a petite vanity, a smaller pedestal and console tables allows you to expand on the area you do have. You can then add some shelving that takes up less room but makes up for the lost storage.
5. Toilet
Purchasing a new toilet is essential if you have a smaller room being that old toilets are much larger and less efficient. Not only can you save space with a newer model, but it will allow you to customize the room the way you want it.
6. Sliding shower door
Installing a sliding shower door or shower screen eliminates the need for a door clearance. Having a clear glass door will give the impression that it is a window, which will feed the impression that there is even more space than there actually is.
There are a number of different tips and tricks you can take into consideration to expand on your small bathroom. Everything from downgrading features like the vanity and faucet to painting the walls with solid colors can open up the room. Just remember that having a bathroom that is small in size does not mean you cannot dress it up a bit.
